Indiana’s Premier Science Festival

Invitation to Celebrate Science Indiana on Saturday, October 1 from the Organizing Committee

It’s time to start thinking about October and Indiana’s Premiere Science Festival, Celebrate Science Indiana taking place on Saturday, October 1 in the Elements Financial Blue Ribbon Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

This year will feature over 60 interactive activity booths and it will also be the only free WFYI PBS KIDS Playdate scheduled for 2016 which will feature the new PBS KIDS friend, Jet Propulsion, along with Professor Watermelon and friends.

At this year’s event, attendees will have the opportunity to interact directly with scientists, university faculty, college students and outreach individuals from several museums including the Indiana State Museum, the Indianapolis Museum of Art, the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis and Wonder Lab from Bloomington. Come and explore the NASA booth or visit the Indiana Department of Health booth to learn why good hand washing and hygiene are important for good health. Make a painting using maggots or investigate forensics. Chemistry is a Blast is back again and there will be a number of other booths highlighting chemistry.

What happens to energy demand when you turn on multiple lights and appliances in your house? To learn the answer visit the booth on energy consumption, conservation and renewable sources. Have a question about skeletons and anatomy? Be sure to visit the anthropology and the anatomy booths. Do you know what to do if fire strikes? Learn the answer from the dogs of the Kasey Program. Are you interested in scouting? Be sure to stop by and see the Girl Scouts of Indiana and the Boy Scouts of America STEM Scouts to learn more about their activities.

Other booths include racing and car technology, brain function, robotics, astronomy, and information on space camps.

This posting is intended to give you an idea of range of the day’s activities, but there are many others too numerous to mention. The list of Exhibitors can be found on the 2016 Exhibitors page. The list is still growing daily.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to the 6th annual Celebrate Science Indiana on Saturday, October 1.
