Congratulations to the Winners of the 2013 Indiana You Be The Chemist Challenge

The 2013 Indiana You Be The Chemist Challenge was held at Dow AgroSciences last month. The competition was extremely tight during the lightening rounds with multiple tie-breakers needed to determine fourth and first places.

The Chemical Educational Foundation’s You Be The Chemist (YBTC) Challenge is a fun and innovative academic competition that engages students in grades 5-8 in learning about important chemistry concepts, scientific discoveries, and laboratory safety. Challenge competitions take place across the country, encouraging the collaboration of industry members, schools, and community organizations, as together, they educate students about the value of science education and the role of chemistry in their everyday lives.

Larry Sernyk from Dow AgroSciences said:

All of our students did a great job. You can tell how much they all studied and how hard they worked. The contest was tough because of our increased numbers, and we hope to continue to grow the number of schools involved in the Challenge next year.

The champion of the Indiana YBTC Challenge, Peyton Bailey, will go on to compete in the National Challenge June 24 in Philadelphia, Pennyslvannia.

Congratulations to the 2012-13 Indiana YBTC Challenge Winners!
