Ameya was awarded a $3,000 Educational Scholarship for future higher education expenses, a TI-84 Plus Calculator and trophy. All participants were awarded a National Challenge Medal. At the celebration banquet all the students also received a special prize from the Dow Chemical Company of a Parrot Mambo mini-drone.

Ameya was accompanied by his family and his teacher Cheryl Ruetz and her family.

Ameya shared his experiences after the Challenge: “The You Be The Chemist program has fostered my passion and interest in science. The National Challenge was a great overall experience, both for deepening my understanding of chemistry and enjoying DC.”

Cheryl Ruetz shared the following: “I am so proud of Ameya’s success. I know he studied very hard to get as far as he did and I’m so happy that he placed so well in the National event. This was a great experience for us and I will continue to make this opportunity available to students at Creekside middle school in the future. I want to extend my appreciation to the Chemical Educational Foundation that allowed teachers to be part of this experience by sponsoring the trip for me.”
